PD 23 April 2014: Tennessen Samraj: Consciousness

Is there a place where consciousness located?
Kant: the noumenal and the phenomenal are different.
Brentano: consciousness is (always?) intentional.
Husserl: the phenomenology of consciousness. All consciousness is consciousness is about something.
Sartre: consciousness is always temporal. Consciousness always involves choices.
Dennett: mental states can be reduced to brain states.
Libet: readiness potential precedes conscious decisions.
Putnam: pain states need not be reducible to C-fibres firing. So eliminative materialism is wrong; so some form of functionalism must be true.
